North Dakota Army National Guard, North Dakota Air Guard and US Army Reserve members are ordinary people just like you. They come from every walk of life and from every part of the state. What brings them together as a team is there love of country, state, and community. Members serve part-time-most serve one weekend a month and two weeks a year. It means they have plenty of time for family and friends. They can go to college or pursue a career full-time.
Why These Military Organizations Exist:
The North Dakota Army, Air National Guard is a disciplined and organized force ready to respond to local and state emergencies and natural disasters as called upon by the Governor of North Dakota Both organizations are subject to activation by the President of the United States. The Army National Guard is the reserve fighting force for the US Army and the Air National Guard provides strategic air defense and defensive counter air.
The US Army Reserve is also the fighting force of the US Army and can be activated by the President.
There are many reasons why young men and women like yourself choose to belong to a specific military branch, however, one of the benefits of military service is money for college programs offered by the respective branches. These programs allow you to serve your state and country while attending college, vocational, or technical school. Please check with each branch to identify which of the following programs are available and the exact dollar amounts.
Montgomery G.I. Bill
This program pays a member in the military up to $10,368.00 this is paid
in monthly increments over a 36-month school period.
Tuition Reimbursement Program
The tuition reimbursement program is available to all members of
the North Dakota Army and Air National Guard. This program reimburses
any Guard member up to $1,000.00 per semester and the college will reimburse
the Guard member 25% of their tuition.
Student Loan Repayment Program
This program allows qualified members of the Guard and Reserve to have
up to $20,000 of student loans repaid to them.
Cash Enlistment Bonus
Cash Enlistment Bonus's are eligible to qualified members who enlist in the
military in specialized job skill training. Bonus's range from $2,000
to $8,000.
