Career and Technical Education

How do you get a GOOD job? PREPARE!

Analyze your aptitudes and interests.
Investigate the career opportunities.
Find out what preparation is needed and where it is available.

You can do all of this in secondary and postsecondary career and technical education(CTE)!

"Real World" Learning

In career and technical education classes you:

  • Learn job-specific skills;
  • Discover how math, English, and science are used in the workplace;
  • May receive some of your training at a worksite in the community.

Your "real world" learning will give you an advantage over untrained applicants in finding employment and making a smooth transition from school to work.

Making Changes

Change is part of life. What happens to the time and energy you invested in preparing for a career if:

  • You change career direction?
  • You want to move up the career ladder?
  • New and different career opportunities become available?
  • Your employer restructures the work force?

Eighty (80) percent of all occupations can be entered through career and technical education (CTE), and many of the skills you learn in a secondary or postsecondary career and technical education program will transfer into another career area or into a four-year college program.

So. when change occurs in your work life, build on the knowledge and skills you already have and make your career changes with confidence.
