Do's
and Don'ts of Resumes
Do:
- Be concise and specific
- Leave plenty of white space
- Make wide margins
- Spell everything correctly
- Use action verbs & key words
- Be honest
- Use high quality white/off white paper
- Keep it short (one page is best)
- Vary style & content for the desired position
- Proofread, proofread, proofread
- Have someone else proofread it, too
Don't
- Be too wordy
- Repeat yourself
- Use abbreviations
- Handwrite it
- Use obvious photocopies
- Use an old resumé with obvious corrections
- Use flashy graphics
- Add irrelevant information such as date of birth, marital status,
etc.
- Assume one kind of resumé will be all you need
