Differences between a resume, curriculum vitae (CV), and a portfolio
- A resume is a summation of your work history and education, typically no longer than 2 pages.
- A curriculum vitae is used by higher education and more professional positions to summarize education received, classes taught, certifications, professional publications, and speaking engagements.
- A portfolio is a collection of work samples typically organized in a 3 ring binder. Portfolios may be brought out at interviews to show examples of work. Typical contents of portfolios include:
- licensures
- certifications
- letters of recommendation
- media samples
- written samples
- other past work accomplishments.
