About NDCRN

  1. Purpose:
    1. The North Dakota Career Resource Network (NDCRN) is an interagency organization established for the specific purpose of providing a coordinated occupational and career information delivery system in North Dakota.
  2. Responsibilities:
    1. The NDCRN serves as an information and data clearinghouse that enables its member agencies to use the resources for:
      1. Career planning;
      2. Career development Implementation;
      3. Training and education program planning; and
      4. Economic development planning.
    2. As the designee of Section 118 of the Carl D. Perkins Vocational and Applied Technology Education Amendments of 1998 (Perkins III), the NDCRN shall:
      1. Provide support for a career guidance and academic counseling program designed to promote improved career and education decision making by individuals (especially in areas of career information delivery and use);
      2. Make available to students, parents, teachers, administrators, and counselors, and to improve accessibility with respect to, information and planning resources that relate educational preparation to career goals and expectations;
      3. Equip teachers, administrators, and counselors with the knowledge and skills needed to assist students and parents with career exploration, educational opportunities, and education financing.
      4. Assist appropriate State entities in tailoring career-related educational resources and training for use by such entities;
      5. Improve coordination and communication among administrators and planners of programs authorized by this Act and by section 15 of the Wagner-Peyser Act at the Federal, State, and local levels to ensure non-duplication of efforts and the appropriate use of shared information and data;
      6. Provide ongoing means for customers, such as students and parents, to provide comments and feedback on products and services and to update resources, as appropriate, to better meet customer requirements; and
      7. Address Section 204 (c) (5) of Perkins III to include training programs for counselors to more effectively provide information to students regarding tech-prep education programs; support student progress in completing tech-prep programs; provide information on related employment opportunities; ensure that students are placed in appropriate employment; and stay current with the needs, expectations, and methods of business and all aspects of an industry.
